Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers

Good grief!

A mixed bag - Thomas was up at 5:40 this morning, but stayed in his crib until 6:40 when he started crying for "Daddymama". He did better at both naptime and bedtime - little bits of crying, but no hysterics. He fell asleep quickly both times because he's exhausted. Short naps continue....he's going to have permanent dark circles under his sad little eyes. He still won't let us out of his sight -

On a happy note, we were at a store today that had a horse ride - the old fashioned kind that you put a dime in and let the kid ride. He loved it! We had to do it twice while he grinned.....too cute!

So, not to be an alarmist or anything ... but could something have happened at the preschool or with the new babysitter that has him upset and not wanting to be without you guys? I don't know, but the seemingly sudden drastic change doesn't feel right to me... Hang in there you all!!

Of course, it could just be the change in seasons. I know i've been very tired and out of sorts lately, and that i am effected by weather changes ... just another thought.

I keep having thoughts!! Try this: Put a few drops of lavender essential oil in his bath water; no a lot, just about 6 or 7 ( i use 10, but it can be pretty strong for some people). But it should help clam him down for sleep. Works for me every time! You can find the essential oil at natural food markets, or some drug stores, maybe; The Body Shoppe usually has some, too.

Thanks for sharing the concern and helping to brainstorm possibilities. We've been using this forum partially as a vent for our concerns, questions and sometimes our frustrations. But as it turns out, at least based on what we can find, we are actually fairly certain that this is a really strange but common phenomenon. Seemingly, most (or at least many) kids go through some sort of fairly drastic changes in either sleep or clinginess or some sort of combination of these. We are feeling somewhat hopeful that things are on the way to a bit of a return to a new normal; and that this whole process will likely happen again sometimes before he's 3.
We'll probably need to continue to need the outlet, support and thoughts. We'll also continue to welcome suggestions as well as comments on cute little pics and moments.

So glad you guys share this stuff. It helps us feel connected. I know it can be exasperating but it's a joy to see him and you grow.

On the same day I read about your week, I also read a friend's blog about her toddler refusing nap time and her joy that she has this time with him.
