Feeling Better

Fever free today - Wahoo! Went for a bike ride this morning, and hopefully outside again soon. Who knows why he had a fever all day - a little runny nose today, but that's the same as every day.

Fever

Seriously? The first warm day in months and a fever?

I am saying many, many bad words right now.

Fast Extruder

This apparently is the term for the child who has eardrums that refuse to allow tubes to stay in.

December 27: 2nd round of tubes put in because they came out too early
January 27: ENT tells me the right tube is no longer in the hole. What?!? They are supposed to stay in a year....not a month!

The hole is there so there is some ventilation, but the tube is just kind of hanging on. He tried to put it back in while we were in the office, but after Thomas shrieked and cried we gave up that idea.

Now we wait and see if we have to do round 3 - we look for ear infections and hold our breath.

Come on spring - get here soon with no ear infections along the way.

Makes sense to me!

This is the conversation I heard just after brushing teeth, getting ready for bath time.

Mommy: "When you sneezed, you covered your ears. Why?"

Thomas: "Well ... because I thought the cough might be to messy for my ears."

Mommy: "That doesn't make any sense to me."

Thomas: "Well ... but it makes sense to me."

OK then. On with the bath.

Christina takes Thomas to an indoor gym with trampolines, ballpits, etc. etc. Here's their last adventure:

A New Thomas Thermometer

We use a temporal digital thermometer - scan across his forehead and a number pops up. But for ease of interpretation, this is all that matters:

99 and below = Sir Talks a Lot
99-100 = Sir Whines a Lot
100-100.5 = Sir Lays Down a Lot
100.5 and above = Sir Sleeps a Lot

We are currently stuck at about 99.5......Snowpocalypse 2011 has really just jumped on my very last nerve.

He's on the road to recovery

How do I know he's feeling better?

He is trying to make up for all the words he didn't say yesterday or the day before. He has used up all of his, all of mine, all of Tom's and I have never been so happy for Quiet Time to get here.

How do we know he is sick?

Two naps today - the definition of a sick boy. Fever between 100 and 101 all day.

He hasn't had a nap since before Christmas, so we know this is kicking his little butt.

Most of these two naps were while laying on me in a semi-upright position on the couch to help with the stopped up nose.

Did I mention we are headed into Snow Day #5 tomorrow? Sigh.... I am so looking forward to going to the grocery store.

And I loathe the grocery store.

Snow! '11

10:30 pm

7:30 am
In the front yard - up to the 4 inch mark. This before the freezing rain.
Recycling bin lid - not super slippery yet, we're hoping for more this afternoon.

Ours are the only tracks on our street.

D'Oh

It occurred to me tonight that perhaps there was one more thing I hadn't checked to help explain why Thomas' sleep seems so much more disturbed than it had in a while. (Though we had a few good nights recently to give him credit!)

TEETH!!! One top molar broke through and the other is about to do the same. Finally! We have been waiting for these last 2 teeth and they are about 6 months behind getting here. We have his first dentist appointment scheduled next month so at least we won't have to worry about the explanation for why his two year molars aren't yet here :)

Let the teeth and then sleep commence.

The Other Day

At the end of dinner...

Thomas:"Well I still want something."

Me: "You know you are not having dessert tonight. We talked about this. When you don't follow the sleep rules you don't have treats like dessert."

Thomas (with a roll of his eyes): "Well I wasn't planning on dessert."

Me: "No?"

Thomas: "No, I was planning on real food. You know....like apples or goldfish."

He wears me out :)

Happy New Year!
